The Officers

Caleb Howard: Quick to resort to his fists both on and off the job, CRG Officer Caleb Howard nearly got fired for assaulting his fellow officer’s son — and the officer himself — during a backyard party. Since then, he’s been investigated for multiple violent incidents, including two that sent people to the hospital.

Sgt. Richard Bonesteel: Recently promoted to sergeant, Richard Bonesteel supervises a squad of the CRG. Sgt. Bonesteel has a temper. Just ask his past girlfriends. He went on three dates in three different cities that ended in a police response.

Sgt. Christopher Gregorio: Gregorio used to be a K9 officer until he rushed a schizophrenic Black man with his dog, causing a fatal police shooting. Now he works with SPD’s Police Outreach and Engagement Team (POET).

Lt. Christopher Couet: The man in charge of CRG, Lt. Christopher Couet, knows about chain of command—or at least he knows about protecting senior cops. He dismissed a woman’s sexual assault allegations against the King County Sheriff and covered for his sergeant’s bizarre revenge plan. As far as following and giving orders goes, he leaves a little to be desired.

Tanner Jay: West Precinct Bike Officer Tanner Jay has problems telling the truth. The Office of Police Accountability twice caught him lying, but didn’t sustain findings despite substantial evidence.

Eric Walter: Officer Eric Walter was caught scamming multiple online retailers by ordering thousands of dollars’ worth of merchandise and claiming that it never arrived. Later, he rolled his bike over a protester’s face during a protest for Breonna Taylor.

Joshua McMullen: A violent cop with a short fuse, Officer McMullen has been investigated repeatedly for excess force and unprofessionalism, including an incident in 2020 when he knelt on a man’s neck during the George Floyd Protests.

Lt. Larry Longley: Lt. Larry Longley heads SPD’s POET unit, so he’s responsible for deescalating conflicts at protests. It’s kind of an odd role for someone who was sued earlier in his career for escalating a simple parking issue to a violent arrest. He was also caught on camera making racist anti-Black jokes, so not the best person to do “outreach” and “engage” with marginalized communities.

Sgt. Brian Rees: Sgt. Rees was named in multiple complaints and lawsuits for assaulting protesters with so-called less lethal weapons. His ex-wife, a former Seattle police officer, claims he ran her out of the department by stalking and harassing her at work.

Mark Rawlins: CRG Officer Mark Rawlins has a long history of violent dehumanization of homeless people. He was caught on video at King County Jail throwing a homeless man to the ground and sending him to the hospital. Rawlins was twice investigated for violating homeless people’s rights at encampments. In one case, he destroyed several tents while searching for a suspect.

All proceeds go toward the operational costs of DivestSPD, the Puget Sound’s only community-based police watchdog, including labor, data and storage, public records fees, and other expenses.
